Apollo’s EVO: The Track Day Hypercar That Pushes Boundaries
You’re in the market for a V-12 track-day hypercar that will make your buddies jealous. While the Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 doesn’t scream “look at me,” and the Aston Martin Valkyrie LM is a tad too hardcore for your taste, you’re seeking something extreme yet exclusive. Look no further than the Apollo EVO, the latest creation from German manufacturer Apollo Automobil, the minds behind the legendary Gumpert Apollo and the striking Apollo Intensa Emozione. With a design that blends raw aggression with sophisticated engineering, the EVO looks fast even when standing still.
Engineering Excellence and Uncompromising Power
On the track, the Apollo EVO truly shines. Apollo claims a top speed of 208 mph and a blistering 0-60 mph time of around 2.5 seconds. This beast is the result of a partnership with HWA AG, the German motorsport powerhouse known for the stunning Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 EVO II tribute car.
Under the hood, the EVO features a refined version of the 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V-12 engine sourced from the Intensa Emozione. This engine revs to 8,500 rpm, producing 800 horsepower and 564 lb-ft of torque. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Hewland six-speed sequential gearbox with electropneumatic paddle shifters, ensuring precise and rapid gear changes.
The suspension system is pure race car engineering, featuring pushrods and adjustable dampers front and rear. Standard stopping power comes from 15-inch carbon-ceramic brakes. The car sits on 20-inch front and 21-inch rear center-lock forged wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires. For those seeking ultimate track performance, Apollo offers race-spec steel brakes and 18-inch wheels with Michelin race slicks.
Aerodynamic Mastery and Lightweight Construction
The EVO’s exterior is a masterpiece of carbon-fiber sculpting, wrapped around a new carbon-fiber monocoque. At just 363 pounds, this chassis is 10% lighter and 15% stiffer than that of the Intensa Emozione.
Unlike other hypercars, the EVO foregoes a massive rear wing for active aerodynamics. The hydraulically actuated rear wing deploys in under a second and continuously adjusts its angle to optimize aerodynamic balance and downforce. At 200 mph, the system generates up to 3,000 pounds of downforce, exceeding the EVO’s 2,900-pound curb weight.
Interior Design and Driver Focus
The skeletal interior is constructed from carbon fiber and lightweight “bionic” aluminum structures that enhance stiffness and safety. Lightweight bucket seats are bolted directly to the monocoque, while a sliding pedal box accommodates drivers of different heights. The compact steering yoke features optimized grip geometry, designed for precision and driver engagement.
Exclusivity and Availability
Production of the Apollo EVO is strictly limited to just 10 units worldwide. Each car is fully bespoke, finished to the owner’s exact specifications. While pricing starts at approximately $3.5 million before local taxes and fees, the exclusivity and personalized craftsmanship ensure that each EVO is a unique masterpiece.
The first EVO is currently under construction and is expected to be delivered in the first half of this year.
